4/5 ★ – Shidan's review of Resident Evil: Director's Cut.

A great game for it's time. Probably everything has been said about this game, so instead of repeating those things, I'll try to explain how it subverted my expectations. First, I'm going to talk about the acting, yes it's pretty wacky, but I think it is one of the things that made it special, personally I think it gives the game some uniqueness, like something that we had never played before, and it was. As far as I'm aware, this is the first survival horror game to put all the elements of the genre together, and the one that put the title to the genre. At first I thought it would be difficult to navigate through the map, since you'll encounter a lot of zombies in narrow corridors and sometimes the camera angles are not the best, but it's not that hard to dodge the zombies, if you wait a few seconds after they start chasing you, they will turn to the side and you will be able to run without danger (most of the times), after dodging most of them and killing some, you'll notice that your ammo and healing items are quite abundant, since then you'll only have to choose the right weapon (or weapons) for each map/section, and you're never gonna run out of bullets. After a while, I enjoyed running through the mansion, going back to collect more items, saving them in the storage box and killing the zombies I left before. The sceneries are very well thought, every room has a purpose, in them you'll find a key item, a scene, regular supplies, or a boss. Also you feel the necessity to search in every corner, since you are rewarded for doing this from the beginning of the game. Talking about bosses, it think they're the only thing in the game that didn't impress me, there're 4 in the entire game, the design of 3 is cool, but they're very easy to defeat. I think everyone should give it a try, specially if you are familiar with tank controls, static camera angles and for some reason haven't played or (as me) finished it.
