4.5/5 ★ – Shirts_that_fit's review of GRIS.
Wow. So flashback to 2019 when Gris was nominated for almost every award and I thought hmm must be good, I’ll have to try it out someday. Flash forward to 4 years later and here we are. I figured it would be good but not THAT good. If not for one little point towards the end of the game where I thought, “oh right, this is a video game” this experience was a masterpiece.
In the first 5 seconds of playing I thought to myself okay so the art style is a 10/10. In the first 5 minutes I thought okay so the music is a 10/10. And as I was crying while the credits rolled I thought so that whole experience was practically perfect.
One of my favorite parts of the game was the fact that there weren’t 1000s of deaths breaking the flow of gameplay. It was just one continuous scene and that did so much for the experience. The water color art style may be one of my favorite I’ve ever seen and definitely one of the most beautiful. The music perfectly matched the feelings of every moment. The story was so clear yet so vague. With having not a single word spoken and to be bring me to tears by the end… I was in shock. There were moments in this game where my jaw literally dropped.
The developers at nomada are some of the most talented in the business. Do yourself a favor and play this absolute gem of a game. You will not regret it.
