4/5 ★ – Shy_Guy's review of ANIMAL WELL.

This was sold to me as the next great metroidvania, and while there is a lot of good stuff here, it's literally just fine. A YouTube channel I quite like (not dunkey) called this one of if not the best metroidvania hes ever played and I'm just kind of dumbfounded by that. Don't get me wrong the vibes are incredible, the map is really cool, and the experimentation you can do with your new tools is amazing. It's really cool that unlocking a new tool means not only unlocking one kind of puzzle but combining them creates all new and dynamic solutions. But like, unless I missed something there's no story here, there's no reason to keep playing other than pure curiosity, I don't even know what our player character is supposed to be (hes like a lil goop drop?). This doesn't come close to something like hollow knight and that was made by three dudes
