5/5 ★ – Siggimanfred's review of Super Mario Odyssey.
While it's 880 moons scared me off at first, I eventually went back to it and found myself unable to not 100% it. Super Mario Oddysey is Nintendo pushing everything past 10/10 onto 11/10. It felt like a "Mario movie" before the actual film released. It's graphics are goddamn pixar level to me and that sense of scale is reinforced by its amazing soundtrack, sound and level design and its mechanics having opened a pandora's box that makes me wonder if a mario game without cappy could even work anymore. It's an absolute love letter to itself and speaks past your war-torn decrepid self to your inner child in a way that makes me tear up everytime I hear "Jump Up, Super Star!". Every Kingdom is a playground waiting for you to explore and play its numerous challenges like an all-you-can-eat-buffet and Mario feels so nimble and effortless to control that putting it down is nearly impossible. Once I had all 880 Moons, it was like saying goodbye to a loved one and as the fireworks lit up Peach's castle, I couldn't help but shed a tear. 11/10.
