4/5 ★ – Speady9's review of Super Mario 3D Land.

No idea why it took me this long to get around to Super Mario 3D Land, because it's absolutely brilliant! The combination of 2D Mario level design with 3D Mario physics brings some remarkable gameplay moments, with lots of gorgeous set pieces (and some that take use of the stereoscopic 3D in the best ways possible). This is quite honestly a love child of Super Mario Bros. 3, with its choice of items and enemies (i.e. tanooki suit, Koopalings, and airships), and Super Mario 64. The only downside I had with this one is that it's just a bit too easy. I ended my playthrough with over 70 lives still at play, having only lost 48 during my time. Expect fun, not challenge.
