4.5/5 ★ – Sprinklyspark's review of Genshin Impact.

I was hesitant to try this game, because I heard a lot of negative opinions about the gacha system. But damn, am I glad I gave Genshin a shot. It’s a beautifully made free-to-play game that can easily be mistaken for a stand alone console RPG. It has lore, quests, puzzles, exploration, engaging battle system, deep build mechanics, and a cast of colourful characters. It’s like the developers researched into every top game in the recent years and combined all the best elements they have into one! I had been playing for three months and barely scratched the surface content of this game, especially with the monthly updates and events that brought a ton of new content for new players like myself. The downside to this is the limited run of these events, so if you missed out on one of them and the items/characters they give out for free, then tough luck, which is particularly hard for new players, since they make you go speed through the main story content just to get access to these events. I still don’t completely understand why they make new players do that, wouldn’t they want a more drawn out, at your own pace experience so they have more breathing room instead of players breathing down their necks for new content? The other thing is, if you are still on the edge about this game, because of the dreaded gacha system, this is what I would say: self control and patience. I think it’s okay to invest in Welkin Moon which at $6.99, which is not too bad if you have some spare change lying around, but I would not recommend investing into genesis crystals just to try and get a specific character or weapon. It could get expensive REALLY fast. Think about what type of player you are first before diving into this game, or you might just find yourself spending an exorbant amount on this game.
