4.5/5 ★ – Stupidex's review of VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action.

I love how the game starts by telling you to get some snacks first before playing it. The story, the music, the characters, and especially the atmosphere, are all so well made that you can't help but feel for this world and its characters! I loved how everything was so "normal", how it all kinda made sense, even though it didn't! Talking dogs, nanobots, brains in a jar, FUCKING LILIM!! (not fucking them, but lilim in general) This things are all weird and on the sci-fi territory but the game treats it as normal, even though the characters still find it a little weird, as one would!! But since the game doesn't question it, you don't question it either, so by the end of it, it's all just a regular Friday serving a Gut Punch to a Corgi. (And while the game doesn't explain everything, like Anna for example, i don't think it needs to! Personally, i find the mystery exciting, and enriches the experience! It's just another concept from this weird dystopian future!!) The game isn't perfect though! Just as Jim Carrey-ed most of the first Sonic Movie, the writing (and music) carries the whole game. The gameplay is really intuitive, it's fun and sometimes it can change how a character will act and approach you, but those little moments are quite rare. The gameplay also changes completely sometimes, like the truth or dare part, which are nice changes of pace, I'll given them that, but i wished they used more of the mixing drinks part, which i find fun!! The music is AMAZING!! I'm listening to it non-stop!! Friendly Conversation, Umemoto, Out of Orbit, Every Day Is Night, Good for Education Bad for Health, and many more are absolute BANGERS!! And the pixel art is GOD-LIKE!!! 9/10, definitely recommend!!
