4/5 ★ – Subway's review of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake.

I’m so happy that in 2023 we are getting a new SpongeBob game. I would love to get more of these types of games again, just as long as they’re made better than this. Yeah, I gave it 4 stars, but realistically it should be a little lower than that because with all this game does well, there are many technical problems with this. Nothing game breaking, but sometimes the mechanics wouldn’t work in certain situations (like the karate kick), there were many performance issues, especially dropping frame rates, and some visual glitches. I know it’s weird to judge a SpongeBob game on that, but this is a 2023 game released only on last gen consoles, I really think these shouldn’t be problems. But, these problems didn’t have a large affect on my experience. It’s a short, fun and original new SpongeBob game filled with a bunch of easter eggs, terrific music, and plenty of stuff to do. It’s easy to jump through different levels and checkpoints, there’s a lot of cool costumes to unlock, lots of places to explore and side quests to do, and there’s a few challenges to complete. Although it’s technical issues do stand out, it’s still a nice fun time. Would love more new SpongeBob games in the future.
