3.5/5 ★ – Supergamerguy's review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue.
A monochrome pallette and some floaty controls might lead you to think TMNT III is half-baked, but I ended up having a shell of a good time after sticking with this game for more than 15 minutes. Shredder's Lair (definitely not Dracula's Castle) is somehow both open-ended and streamlined, and I always found a way to make progress, despite similar-looking areas throughout. Those areas themselves were well-detailed for a Gameboy game, and I think each of the turtles' abilities was used wisely in the level design. Add in a rockin' soundtrack (albeit small) and you've got one of the better games on the platform. I'm glad this is included on the Cowabunga Collection, so that fans of the franchise can experience this hidden gem. I'd recommend this fledgling Metroidvania to fans of the turtles.
