2.5/5 ★ – SupremeSn0rky's review of The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

After being on the “make this bc or remaster/make it” bandwagon for years, I finally accepted that this would be unlikely after the Disney acquisition. Therefore I decided to purchase a physical copy and play via bc on Xbox 360 E. Starting the game I was full of joy and nostalgia; taking me right back to my childhood. The voices were there, Springfield was an open playground and the gags were hilarious. It quickly became apparent, however, that this is a game remembered fondly through heavily rose tinted glasses. 7 levels made up of 7 (main) missions each for a total of 49 levels, and all 49 of those are the same 4 or 5 mission types. “FOLLOW THIS CAR” “RACE THIS CAR” “COLLECT ALL THESE ITEMS” with small variations; where you’re racing to, who you’re racing or what you’re collecting - but for most part the game just repeats itself over and over. I’m not sure what exactly I was expecting from a Simpsons themed driving game without any weapons but it just felt like going through the motions to get to the next funny cut scene or gag. Bad physics and awful camera angles caused huge amounts of frustration. Trying to beat the already low time limit when every tiny knock will spin you out or stop you dead is incredibly anger inducing. And when your car takes damage and starts to smoke it makes visibility practically zero. Fun. Overall this gets 2 and a half for nostalgia, the humour and The Simpsons charm, but as far as remastering it goes; if Disney was to allow a studio to licence this from them, I would prefer a sequel with todays engines and hardware capability.
