3.5/5 ★ – Szamer's review of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
This is a very interesting take on survival games, adding in the start of humankind evolution. Depending on how good you are at the game it will take you 40-50 hours to complete. It has a massive map that literally takes you hours to cross and it really is a truly amazing looking game until you get to the dry desert area and everything is dead...
Pros:
Big map for the adventurer in you
Great graphics
Really interesting survival game in general
Doesn't give you help (this could be a good or bad thing for the player)
Amazing sound design and music
Big variety of animals to go up against
Multiple types of landscapes to cross
Filled map, there is always something to do
Cons:
Isn't much tutorial on what to do (this could be good for the player)
When you need to comfort the baby at the start it doesn't tell you anything and when you realize you need to time it right it still doesn't work well
The aftergame is worthless without good achievements to strive for
if you are ahead of science you can finish the game early, made me feel like a few hours of what i did was pointless
Controls are weird but after a few hours i got used to them but others might not (holding space bar and shift to sprint)
