3.5/5 ★ – TManEvereenie's review of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

Definitely not up to the standards of the Team Silent fare, Shattered Memories stands out enough to firmly carve its own identity and really become something special, despite living in the shadow of four (admittedly) superior games. Honestly, the story to this game is incredible. The way they repurpose Silent Hill shows that the developers have a great understanding of the material and they know why Silent Hill resonates with so many people. At its core, Silent Hill is intensely personal and the best stories in the series are about real people, with complete emotions. Sure, the monster designs, atmosphere and overall creativity is neat, but that's not why I'm compelled. Shattered Memories understands this and that alone boosts it up from the other western titles in the series. Even with its faults (which solely reside in the gameplay. As usual, the biggest enemy to the wii is the wii itself) I would say it's the last great Silent Hill game, even if it isn't perfect. It's the only western SH game (except PT if that counts) to understand what makes SH work, even if it isn't very scary. It's the thought (or memory) that counts.
