2000-2009 Best of the Decade

Spanning from the age my son is now (5) until the year I turned 15, I remember many great gaming memories that mostly began with my exposure to console gaming at my uncles house. He had all the new consoles, and would play all the new games when they would release. Sometimes he would pass me and my brothers the controller, allowing us to play for bits and pieces at a time. Though I never had the skill to make progress in whatever random game it was, I remember it being insanely thrilling. Eventually we would play the fighting game “Dead or Alive” on Xbox. We would have tournaments that usually ended with my uncle and oldest cousin in the competitive, emotionally charged championship match. The winner won nothing but the pride to carry them to the next time we got to be together (which was only a few times a year). This would eventually lead to us finally acquiring our first few gaming consoles. After a small amount of PS1, PS2 and GameCube gaming that includes a lot of smash melee at my neighbors house, I would eventually come across Halo at my buddy Matt’s house. He was insanely good and would make montages of his online gameplay on the computer. This spawned my first gaming obsession; playing Halo online. It took me forever to get my own Xbox 360, and even longer for my mom to allow me access to playing online, but eventually she caved. Hours upon hours were spent playing Halo 3, watching MLG tournaments and talking gameplay at school with Matt and a few other buddies who also played competitively. Other online games like Gears and COD would come across me from time to time, but Halo was always my GOAT. During this time I also began playing a fair amount of WoW at my other buddy Spencer’s house until I finally got my mom to buy it for me and my brothers at home. We would switch off playing on our characters every few hours. The time would go by so fast, but it was fun to measure my character progress with my brothers. All of this would eventually lead to my greatest gaming obsession of all; Xbox achievement hunting. Elaboration on this will be included in my 2010-2019 list. Consoles I had: PS1 PS2 Gamecube Xbox 360 Family Computer
