3.5/5 ★ – TalonJedi's review of RoboCop: Rogue City.
From the makers of Terminator Resistance come another nostalgic blast fro the past that’s fully equipped with iconic music, venues, mindless shooting and Peter Weller himself returning to reprise his role as Alex Murphy. Aka just enough ingredients to get those member berry juices flowing. I actually enjoyed this more than Terminator Resistance because it felt a lot more fleshed out in regards to the visuals, story and overall performance. Plus this time around the only bullet sponge like character in the game was, well, yourself as Robocop since by the end of the game he’s an absolute powerhouse so much that bullets can deflect off your armor to bounce back and kill enemies depending on how you upgrade Robocop. That’s another thing I enjoyed was the upgrade system which again felt more thawed out than the Terminator game since it allowed you to focus on not only offense and defense but also psychological upgrades for dialogue choices as well as ways to find hidden paths and unlockable passages in the areas you’re present in old Detroit. Now I said before the game does have a lot of mindless shooting yes but it also has some focus on dialogue options which can effect the outcome of your game as well as some mild sleuthing and detective work as you scan the areas you’re present in to find clues to progress the story at certain points in the game. It’s also a pretty hefty length of a story too which was a little over 15 hours for me, possibly more as there were over a dozen side quests I did too. The story itself brought back some nice elements from the first two Robocop films, but mainly focused on a continuation of the first film for the most part and was a bit interesting but nothing too spectacular. It was just enough to do a solid job and get out of there before it overstayed it’s welcome too much. Overall if you’re a fan of the Robocop movies you’ll be right at home here. If you’re not and just want a simple and clean FPS game with some mild detective work here and there, you’ll still have a decent time with this game.
