3/5 ★ – TalonJedi's review of Still Wakes the Deep.

While this might be considered a simple walking and platforming survival simulator I would play 100 Still Wakes The Deep over Death Stranding ever again. While I’m not sure what that has to do with anything I felt it necessary to state. Still Wakes the Deep is a simple 6 hour no nonsense heavily story driven survival game that resembles Outlast in that you’re forced to hide and survive on an oil rig set in 1975 off the coast of Scotland. Figure out lite puzzles and platform your way to the bitter end while evading mysterious tentacle creatures that have taken hold of your crew mates. I truly miss games like this where they were linear and laser focused with a tightly woven narrative and got you in and out in no time flat. While there really wasn’t much in regards to challenge and each boss encounter can be toppled by pretty much hiding and timing your escape, I appreciated the focus on survival over combat. It was very similar to the Outlast horror titles but this one touched more on the supernatural and the voice acting while heavy in Scottish accents sounds like they’re giving it their all. Overall if you want a neat little first person survival thriller game that can be toppled in a weekend and have a 20 piece to spare ai would invest my time in this one.
