4.5/5 ★ – TehSorceror's review of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Gameplay wise this is probably the best yakuza game in the franchise for me, they improved basically everything about the combat and playing as kiryu feels so satisfying. Hawaii is also an amazing new area with tons to explore and beautiful scenery really driving up the vacation aspect of the game. All the NPCs talking in english while in hawaii was also hillarious and I liked how they designed the new enemies to be more america-centric. The side content is also great especially the animal crossing and crazy taxi modes which were my absolute favorites. The new characters were kind of hit or miss for me but I loved Yamai and the main two party additions. The main problem I have with this game which is unfortunately pretty standard for follow up RGG games (yakuza 2) was the story. I loved the kiryu part and thought that it was a good sendoff for his character (hopefully for real this time RGG 🤬) but the cult leader stuff with Ichiban just didnt do it as much for me. 7 was one of my favorite stories in the franchise because at its core it was very personal to Ichiban, this is kind of the case here but it feels very hacked together and almost like they really didnt plan everything out which was the opposite of 7 (ignoring mirror face). I still have confidence for the next game as I still liked how they left things off with all the major characters, but hoepfully story wise its planned out better.
