4.5/5 ★ – TehSorceror's review of Metroid Dread.

This game is insane, well worth your time with tons of replay value getting better times/collecting items. It took me about 10 hours to complete the game and I got 87% of the items just because I enjoyed it so much. I definitely want to go back and 100% at some point but those shine spark puzzles can get really difficult. This is easily the closest a 2D metroid has come for me to super and even surpasses it in some regards. The story is easily the best in the series with lots of great twists, I love the focus on the chozo which have not been physically present in any of the previous games. The EMMI sections provide lots of tension and its actually impressive how good the AI is at hunting you throughout the various areas. The music while not as good as previous entries provides a fitting backdrop to the game with many atmospheric tracks. The dread version of samus's theme however is easily my favorite rendition of the song that I have heard. This game is also very difficult especially many of the bosses which test all of your skills that you pickup throughout play. I loved this game and even if this is meant to be the end of samus's story I would love some kind of continuation of the 2D metroid series.
