4/5 ★ – TehSorceror's review of The 25th Ward: The Silver Case.
A direct sequel to the silver case that continues to be a bizarre but enjoyable experience. This game was originally released on cellphones so the general gameplay is more simplified but for what is mostly a visual novel it doesnt impact much. As is usual for suda51 the character writing is the clear standout of the game with this game focusing on three seperate groups in the 25th ward each filled with memorable new and returning characters. My favorite character just like in the first game was Tokio and they continue his story excellently, but the new additions are great as well, I especially loved the "Matchmaker" cast. The art style continues to be great but you can definitely tell there was a tight budget with lots of still images + reused assets. The soundtrack for this game is amazing too and is worth listening to even if you dont gel with the game. The only downside of the game is the general design philosophy suda follows sometimes where the player has to complete tedious tasks to progress. This is nowhere near as bad as the endless walking in flower sun and rain but unless you are a masochist I would look up a guide for some of the investigation segments. This definitely is not a game for everyone and cannot be played without playing the first one, but it is also a truly one of a kind and experimental video game that I loved.
