3/5 ★ – Thayne's review of River City Girls.

A fun mess. The writing and dialogue are meh, it mainly focuses on servicing the goofy and zany storyline but the story is fine, dialogue is meh and some interactions range from kind of funny or clever to just being really forced, I think the characters are pretty fun and not all of the interactions are bad. Also, I don't think the original ending was that bad but I'll still say that the meta-joke with the alternative ending doesn't hold up with context from the overall series of Kunio-Kun. The gameplay is good but it could be improved in a lot of areas, the voice acting is pretty fine and nothing special, the art design is really great and I like how you could get their personality from one glance even without dialogue. I'm very excited for the sequel and it seems like they'll be having a more focused storyline while being less linear, the gameplay looks more diverse with air combat, and two new playable characters; River City Girls Zero also just came out which I won't be able to play for a while because I bought the physical version so... I'm also going to try and post more reviews in the future, I haven't had time to do them for a while and I'd like to redo a bunch of reviews.
