5/5 ★ – TheAmazingBLYATman's review of Marvel's Spider-Man.

As far as superhero games go for...there aren't many great ones out there...I mean at all. Very few I'd call quality even. The only good ones I find really are the Arkham games *coughs not Origins. As far as Spiderman went, the only great one I see there was like Spiderman on the PS1. Until now, we have finally found here a  contender to even rival Arkham Knight as for the best superhero game ever. This is by far...without an ounce of a doubt, the best Spiderman game ever. But it's not only that, it's an amazing game overall PERIOD. Insomniac has just completely surprised me more and more as I delved more into the game. They just put so much work into this game. I really felt like there was so much authenticity to playing as Spider-Man. The physicality to his webswinging and parkour is insane. How he flows into the air, dives in, hyper leaping from buildings etc. Just roaming around the city alone is what makes this game super replayable as hell. As far as combat and stealth goes, I feel it took a lot of notes directly from the Arkham games. His combat moves against enemies just feel super potent and massive. It's so awesome ziplining to enemies and punch the fuck out of them. Counter attacking them feels just like the one in the Arkham games. The use of gadjets as well. There is quite variety in his stuff. Web shooting has never been cooler. He has laser trip wire web mines, web bombs, electric shooters, a FKN SPIDER-BOT etc. The stealth gameplay also takes notes from the Arkham games. Swinging up enemies from the ground and quickly wrapping them up is so cool. Spidey's gadjets really come to high use. There are puzzles in this game as well. Connecting electrical circuits, matching substance DNA patterns, tracking people/things down etc. The boss fights in this game are awesome too. Quite a bit of air-time and swinging I had to do to get some of these guys. Electro and Vulture especially. Constantly swinging in the air. Shocker was high on projectiles. I'd be dodging almost every second there. It seems the setting of this game has shown there has been already quite a history that has happened here with Spidey. Yes, we're way past Uncle Ben. Not witnessing that again for the 10th time. There are these collectibles you can get throughout the city. They're basically a huge load of easter eggs spread all over the place that makes references even the Raimi films (PIZZA TIME). Every time you get these items, Spidey tells a mini-tibit history behind his items. Also there are references to other heroes in the Marvel umiverse. There's even his alternate suits from the comics in the game as well. (STILL NO RAIMI SUIT GRRR). The Avengers tower is in the game and the Wakandan embassy as well. This game is like a total homage to everything Spider-Man. Down from the comics to the movies. A true Spiderman fan's wet dream. Another huge surprise is how cinematically rich this game is. I didn't think there would be quite such level of emotion implemented here. I really feel for all the characters here. And it doesn't really try to be overly dark either, it maintains a light-hearted tone but a very fleshed out story as well. The voice-acting is fantastic. I can't believe the same guy who dubbed Sasuke from Naruto voices Spider-Man here...holy shit. And he's awesome. I'm sorry to say this to all MCU fans, he tops it better than Tom Holland for me... Another wild thing, you not only play as Spidey...but MARY JANE as well! And plus...Miles Morales (yess). Mary Jane mostly, offers more missions where you would have more investigations going on and more puzzles to decipher. A lot of sneaking around as well. Mary Jane here is super likeable and fleshed out well. She really doesn't feel like a damsel in distress at all. Quite the other way around. I don't what to say guys, Insomniac really put a lot more work and detailing into this game than I imagined. Graphics, combat, stealth, puzzles, parkour, gadjets and a cinematic experience. It's honestly at least one of the best games of the current generation (8th gen) of gaming. Another milestone to Sony's PlayStation library of exclusives.
