4/5 ★ – ThePikesvillain's review of Untitled Goose Game.

Untitled Goose Game is fun, goofy, and appealing in all the right ways. I am reviewing the coop experience as my wife and I played this together and beat it in a couple weeks of pickup and play in short bursts a few nights each week. The characters have so much silent film energy to their performances, and the geese exude nefarious charm. We had a brilliant time ruining everyone’s day in this quaint little town. There are only two gripes we had with the game, one of which only exists in the two player experience. There are times the geese might go far apart, but the camera will only pull back so far leaving the geese vulnerable to people chasing them away. This was really only an issue in the Pub where one goose would might be around a bend while the other one gets forcibly kicked out of the Pub, and the camera could not accommodate the situation. The other issue is that there are a couple puzzles which have obvious correct solutions, but if you don’t do something exactly the way the game wants it will not work. The one time we stumbled on this was trying to get the old man to fall on his bum. It was clear the goose needs to pull the stool out from under him before he sits, but we tried dozens of times and he kept noticing and not falling. It turns out the goose has to run off with the stool all the way across the lawn, not just yank it back or to the side. We had to look that solution up because we clearly knew what the solution was but after wasting a lot of time not getting it to work we got tired of trying. In these instances the game should be more forgiving about the solution, but I that was not a common occurrence. Overall, we had a wonderful time with this little indie game, and the ending was so brilliant and satisfying. This is a perfect game to play with your partner and has my wife and myself honking at each other every once in awhile in real life when one of us goes to do something that requires precision. If those two minor issues were smoothed out it would be a perfect 5, but there was some clunkiness that keeps it down to a 4 star rating. Still, this was so much fun and I highly recommend it to just about everyone.
