1/5 ★ – TheRealness408's review of Falling Stars.

Oh man, Falling Stars is a special kind of bad. You play as a girl named Luna and her spirit friend in the town of Dazzleon. Luna's uncle Matt found some ancient potions buried beneath a hill, and has been using them to experiment on his pets. One of Matt's pets escaped and Matt needs Luna's help to get him back. Being a game from 2007, Luna absolutely hates the idea of animal testing, so she instead kidnaps her uncle's pet and asks him to stop violating PETA. Matt agrees, but only if you can raise the pet you stole to be stong enough to beat the shit out of his animal experiments. At some point, you find out that if Matt keeps digging under the hill something vaguely bad will happen and destroy the world. From here it's up to Luna to raise her new hostage... pet. You go around the town of Dazzlelon playing awful minigames with terrible controls for the townsfolk. Some of the townspeople straight up hate you based on your clothes, so you'll occasionally be playing dressup to make friends. The game also has 18 different fetch quests you can do... I did 8 of them... They all involve talking to a person then talking to the quest giver. Sometimes you have to buy something. Yep... Combat is turn based. You have a stamina bar and can attack when it fills. You have 3 attacks - light, medium, and strong. Attacks use stamina based on strength. Attacks are also color coded. Whenever you attack, your opponent will be defending and vice versa. As the defender you want to try and guess what color attack will be used in order to defend against it. It's not good. Beyond the bad controls and gameplay, the graphics are hilariously bad and the visual bugs are pretty much the best part of the game. The loading is insane. I was playing on an emulator at 4x speed and load screens would often take 30 seconds. The world of Dazzleon is tiny. The entire world has about a dozen npcs, 5 or 6 buildings, and is the size of a moderate jrpg town. SPOILER FOR A GAME YOU WILL NEVER PLAY At the end of the game, you have one final battle with Matt who has given up on monster experiments and is experimenting on himself. After the battle, Luna's spirit friend reveals that Luna has been posessed by the spirit for the entire game, and the real Luna was the one who originally found the potions under the hill and was seeking ultimate power. Now it's up to Matt to make sure Luna doesn't try to get the power again when she gets her body back. (WHERE'S MY SEQUEL?!?!) Now, I'm not gonna pretend this is Shakespere. but given what this game was, ima give that twist a 10/10. . END SPOILER FOR BAD GAME Overall, this game was a steaming pile of garbage, but... I kinda liked it? I'll probably play it again.
