If the things you value most in Ace Attorney are the overarching story and long-term development of the main cast then this is probably the entry where the series will start to lose you, because it drops the ball pretty hard in those departments. However, if you're like me and have always enjoyed the games first-and-foremost for their Columbo-style episodic mystery stories that some fans like to label 'filler cases', then Dual Destinies is a standout entry. The intro case is a dud but after that, it's four (five, including the DLC) satisfying meals of fun, cozy, and largely self-contained mystery populated by wacky and endearing characters.
