3/5 ★ – ThumbsMckenzie's review of Far Cry 6.

This is my first Far Cry game since Far Cry 3 and to say very little has changed between these two games would be an understatement. Sure a few things feel a little tighter control wise and things look a lot better, but down to its core, this is pretty much the same game I played long ago. That's not an entirely negative statement too. Far Cry 6 is fast food. It's nothing special, nothing really sticks out as outstanding, but sometimes none of that matters when playing a game. Far Cry 6 is just that. Running around, shooting things, exploring Yara, it's perfectly fine in many, many ways. Sometimes turning your brain off and just pointing and shooting is all you need. There are some parts of this story that are good. When you have Giancarlo Esposito as your main villain, that's bound to happen. This game is just so excruciatingly long where you take so long between story beats and it's split amongst so many characters who you are helping, it's hard to tell if this story is not very good or actually pretty good but buried under mountains of your typical Ubisoft open world filler. Dani does manage to shine through as a character though. She's not deep or well fleshed out, but she's pretty damn cool and the game does a good job of establishing her as a bad ass. But really, I'm burying the lede in this review because Far Cry 6 features the greatest support character in the history of video games: Chorizo. Chorizo is the tiny disabled dachshund that was featured in some of the promotion of this game. He is incredible and deserves your utmost respect and kindness. Outside of that, this game is perfectly fine. If you've played Far Cry 3-5, you've played this game. If you like that and aren't tired of the Ubisoft formula, this game will probably work for you. If you are tired of the formula though or didn't like any of the other Far Cry games, do not play this, it will not change your mind in any way.......outside of maybe Chorizo. In fact, play this game ASAP just for Chorizo.
