5/5 ★ – Trapazt's review of Ghost of Tsushima.

This game is everything you’d want in a Samurai game and it truly captures the essence of what being a Samurai probably was like and what it should feel like for a gamer. The antagonists in both the main story and the Iki Island DLC (Khotun Khan & The Eagle) are compelling enough to be both cool but annoying to a degree where you want to reach to your screen and kill them yourself. Khan is the average big brute villain which they gave a little bit more layer. One of Khotun Khan’s best moments was when he ripped off Taka’s head and did so in front of a tied up Jin Sakai. It is the perfect level of cruelty and villainy while also making it so the player will feel bad for the victim and will want revenge. I will say though, in the moment of Taka’s fall, I automatically thought of Yuna because it is explained and showcased throughout the game’s main story that she is extremely protective of her brother. Yuna, as a character, is kind of annoying at first but she grew on me as the game went on especially after Taka’s death. There isn’t much to say about her other than the fact that I will always praise character development and she has great character development throughout the game. The main character, Jin Sakai, doesn’t show a lot of emotion but does go on to show it at crucial times like when talking about his father which was relatable to me for personal reasons. I rarely give a game 5 stars but I cannot find a single objective flaw within this game and to be honest, nor subjective. Out of a Samurai game set in feudal Japan, it is everything I wanted and more. This game is truly one of the best PlayStation 4 games I’ve played and a killer way of going out with this console and onto current gen (PS5).
