4.5/5 ★ – Tyson's review of Neon White.
The game is absolutely phenomenol and honestly should be a perfect 5 stars because it's so well designed. The feeling of 'perfecting' each level's speedrun is so satisfying. The short level length makes it easy to replay over and over. The introduction of new cards with different but easy to understand guns and discard abilities that were (some of which were really cool like the shotgun dash and the grenade launcher grapple hook). The only reason I can't bring myself to giving it 5 stars right is because of the bosses. On paper I like them, but actually playing them is a slog and it makes replaying them for good times super tedious. Otherwise a complete masterpiece that I can't recommend enough. From what I've heard and seen, the dialogue was abysmal and way to weird and unnecessarily sexual for my liking, but that doesn't really dock the game any points for me personally because you can super easily fast forward through it. As long as a story is easily skippable, I don't care at all how bad it is. Also while it technically is a first person shooter, don't let that turn you off if you don't like fps games the enemies are super easy to kill and it's nothing like any other shooters I've played. It's way more about the movement and discard abilities. I implore everyone to give it a try especially being only $25.
