4/5 ★ – Visionary_Gamer's review of Burnout Revenge.
A rip-roaring, sensory overload of an arcade racer.
Everything combines on-screen and out the speakers to create an excellent sense of speed.
Thankfully I played the PS2 version which looked fantastic. A little too orange and yellow at times but the cars looked great and felt even better when racing them. Seriously, for a PS2 game this feels epic even today. Just damn good drifting, crashes, physics and, importantly, fun.
A lot of people think Revenge is a little overkill in its systems but I really enjoyed what was going on during the races and felt there was a lot of variety. The traffic checking never bothered me too much.
What did bother me was how the game is sometimes a little unfair with its placement of obstacles. Far too often I found myself getting totalled by a sticky out bit of a wall or rail. This made some great races very jarring.
I think I will still find myself pincking up Burnout 3 if I ever fancy some Burnout action, but this is a very solid game.
