2.5/5 ★ – Visionary_Gamer's review of Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.

I have zero nostalgia for Kirby and this is, in fact, my very first Kirby game. This is maybe having an effect on my thoughts for the game. I thought it was just okay, and I did extract some fun out of the experience. I have great admiration for the animations, sprites and beautiful backgrounds. I thought it was just… too simplistic. Simplistic in its mechanics. Simplistic in its level design. Simplistic in its progression. By the third level I found myself in autopilot. Just cruising through the levels, not really taking in or admiring much. The boss battles were too forgettable and similar to enlighten the experience. The endgame boss rush, however, provided a great ending to an underwhelming experience. I’m hoping the later Kirby games introduce some more interesting mechanics, level design and enemy design.
