3/5 ★ – Voltage18's review of FAR: Changing Tides.

Changing Tides I would say is a humongous disappointment the first Far game Lone Sails is an absolute masterpiece that I love but most of the things I loved about the game aren't in this everything feels overdone there are 3 different things you can do with your boat it's a submarine, it's a boat and for that, you can have the sails up and the engine on which needs you to keep going up and down which is sometimes challenging with the clunky ladder climbing and you can boost which has you keeping your engine in the blue area and you have to water the engine so it doesn't overheat sometimes you'll fall down and put out your fire which is super annoying it just turns into micromanaging and you can't admire or pay attention to the games strong points. The game is also super long what was great about the first game is it was about 2 hours and was still filled with story but this was around 4 hours it was stretched out so much and I started getting really bored staring at the same background for ages. The story is pretty good it adds a whole lot to this universe they seem to be building and I'm super excited to see where they take it next. The game is also absolutely beautiful some of the best-looking water I've seen since games like Sea of Thieves it was brilliant but as I said earlier I was staring at the same background for most of it and it wasn't super interesting like Lone Sails it was just water for 3/4 of the game which got really boring, the music was absolutely incredible and it has one of my favourite endings in a game in a while which makes me really excited for a future installment into these games. overall Changing Tides is a decent game that doesn't live up to the first game at all but still has an interesting story mainly held back severely by its gameplay and lack of variety with the backgrounds and there was lots of love put into the game by the amazing Devs. pros: Beautiful music incredible visuals interesting story lots of love put into the game Cons: annoying gameplay too long not much variety with backgrounds clunky ladder-climbing which really got in the way a lot Score: medium 3/5
