1.5/5 ★ – VxSo1's review of Ever17: The Out of Infinity.
I'm used to writing comical reviews check my profile but for this game I have to write something semi-serious because it's concerning. Everywhere for this game I find positive reviews, even overwhelmingly positive on steam and people are fucking delusional. Some people even claim this Uchikoshi's best work. Excuse me? 999? VLR? Remember11? When people play a game that gives the story characteristics of a 3rd Grade narrative assignment suddenly this game is hot shit. I think genuinely people are afraid to say what they really think about a game or just afraid to say the obvious how this is absolute dogshit.
My egregious dislikes: 1. The whole fucking first half of the game is slice of life shit that is not integral to any part of the game. If you are a sane person I'd recommend skipping this half. Straight up they played "kick the can" most wtf arc.
2. Shit really doesn't happen until you get like one of the endings, and the rest are dogshit. You have to get the ending with tsumigi I think I forgot her name the girl with black hair which is the one with some actual plot, then have to play every other one to get the main ending, which ain't even any good.
3. Terrible pacing, terrible characters, if I could squeeze the life out of coco just to not hear her I would do it.
4. Terrible twists but you have to play the game to understand. Straight up nothing would have led to the one about "You" they just dropped that at the end.
Oh look he only put 4 things negative to say: THERE IS NOT MUCH SUBSTANCE IN THIS FUCKING GAME. Waste of hours I took time in.
Positives: soundtrack is good. Takahashi is a GOAT, if you know you know.
Overall: I am honestly baffled by the overwhelming positive ratings for this game. Uchikoshi was in his early stages but yall are too much of pussies to accept that a game can in fact be fucking horrible. He makes an absolute banger after called Remember11 check that out. Uchikoshi is good, this is obviously not one of his best and that's ok.
