4/5 ★ – WightnNerdy's review of Minit.

Minit is a super minimalistic black & white adventure game where you only have 60 seconds to complete as much as you can before your character dies and starts over again from the beginning. It sounds a little punishing at first but you get to keep any significant items or abilities you find throughout your many runs, allowing you to traverse the world more easily on subsequent play-throughs. Not many games feature this timer-based run concept so the game is fairly unique. It has definitely been done before in games like 2009's Half-Minute Hero on the PSP, but it's the first time I've seen it in action myself. I finished the game in one sitting and I even went back and played a little bit of the New Game + that unlocks after you beat it for the first time. It's quite fun, and it's not a super long either. It took me about 3 hours to fully complete it, and it felt like the perfect length—I wonder if the game would have overstayed its welcome if it had been any longer. The game's main hook is solving a collection of puzzles throughout the world and you'll have to fight some enemies here and there, but I definitely liked how it's a lot more puzzle focussed rather than replying on a bunch of combat. For as well designed as Minit is, there are solutions throughout the game that had me occasionally stumped. There is one fairly simple thing near the end of the game that went right over my head, resulting in me exploring the entire world again looking for possible solutions. There isn't any good hint system or anything either, so you may have to turn to a guide to help you through some more obscure sections. I can't say that that these nitpicks take too much away from the game though. Minit is a fun little game that I had a great time playing through.
