3.5/5 ★ – Yeij's review of Airships: Conquer the Skies.

really cool game, nails the steampunk aesthetic in its pixel art art style. the controls for moving air ships are very simple and when you get an airship going you can feel the tension of having to wait to move it again, and the tension can differ depending on how fast and tanky your ship is. theres a lot of creativity to be had in the game since you can build your own ship, picking where modules go, which weapons you have, the armour, the crew size, etc. with that out of the way, the biggest thing that pushed me away from the game was the collision between my ships and other things. my ship had gotten itself stuck twice. the first on a floating island, where it got so bad that i almost restarted the game if it hadnt gotten unstuck after like 5 minutes. the second instance my ship got stuck on another ship. the weird thing is that on both occasions my ship was stuck ontop of the thing it was stuck on but flying straight up still wouldnt fix it. besides that, i think its an alright game but something im not coming back to. also: i wasnt too invested to see myself keep playing. still glad i gave it a try tl;dr - great game if youre into steampunk and creating your own warships, but it is a bit buggy.
