2.5/5 ★ – Youngmyself's review of Rise of the Ronin.
Incredible how even in an open world game, you need to start staged missions like in Nioh. It seems they can't get rid of that flawed system. The terrible performance, multiple crashes, and sometimes the lighting in the game being incredibly bright, this is clearly a bug are all manageable with DLSS and FG. However, it’s pathetic how poorly this game performs given the graphics it has, although I must say, the ambience of Japan they created is quite nice, and they did a good job with the transmog customization.
The story has some good moments, but overall, I found it a bit boring, with many characters that aren't developed enough for you to care about them. Then they suddenly die in random cutscenes, and you just move on, the story has more downs than ups.
The combat is the only element that carries the game and is the reason I finished it, as it resembles their previous quality work, such as the Nioh series and Wo Long.
It is so bloated with unnecessary elements that it really detracts from the overall quality of the game. If it had been a simpler game focused more on quality rather than quantity, it would have been much more enjoyable. But we have that and it’s called Ghost of Tsushima. I’m looking forward to playing Ghost of Yotei since it will be more similar to this game due to guns and other types of weapons. However, overall, I think this is by far the worst game they’ve made (though I have never played Stranger of Paradise).
