5/5 ★ – Zaka's review of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

There isn’t much to be said that hasn’t already appeared in every “top 10 games of all time” list, what I can try to add to the bunch is a mere thought about the amount of independence that the game has... Every Zelda game since the first one and until OOT was heavily based on the one before (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If it works why change it, right?) and it didn’t felt saturated, but it could use a few upgrades. Ocarina of Time slap us all in the face with not just changes, but also gameplay characteristics that endure until today (not just in Zelda games, too). Hyrule Field is the best exemple. Now, as a huge map, the Field is filled with fun content, such as enemies, secrets, and the ability to ride your horse throughout the map and to places you’ve already been to. Though it isn’t an open world game as we know today, it was a major step in the right direction to future games. In addition to that, the many side quests feel natural to the atmosphere of the story, besides being actually fun and rewarding to complete them (something that Skyward Sword could learn from). Definitely was a huge improvement in the Zelda franchise and a “must have” in all Zelda games ever since. All in all, 10 out of 10 would bang again.
