4/5 ★ – Zimtiki's review of Absolute Drift: Zen Edition.

Absolute Drift is a game where your objective is to just… drift, man. You explore 5 small “open world” levels, each with tons of simple objectives like “make this jump” or “donut this pole.” There are also challenge areas that bring this game from being super relaxing, to a completionists nightmare. The challenges are super tough, but with the relaxing lofi this game plays, I found myself trying these challenges over and over again, never tiring of them. It feels super nice to complete them, too. The controls are very simple here. The right trigger accelerates, the left breaks, the stick steers (left or right, not in the direction the car is going), and A is your handbrake. X and B can change gears as well, but I was born in 1995 and don’t fuck with manual, you’ve gotta go auto, man. The controls are also precise, a millisecond of hold A can mean the difference between a drift and a spin out. It feels tough, but fair. Graphically? This game is white, with a few touches of grey, red, and blue. It sounds dull, but it’s meant to simulate an arcade playground, and the simple visuals really keep the attention on your car. This is a fun, if not short game that should be added to EVERY stoners game collection.
