5/5 ★ – Zimtiki's review of Pikmin 2.

Pikmin 2? Uhhh more like the ENTIRETY of my childhood. I love this game. After Olimar returns home to Hocotate, he finds out that his company is in financial ruin. After realizing the Pikmin’s home planet was filled with of artifacts and treasures (like the bottle cap Olimar brings home for his son), Olimar is sent back to PNF-404 by his boss, along with his lazy, arrogant coworker Louie. And so, the perfect sequel begins. The gameplay is nearly identical to the first game, except for the fact that you now have 2 captains you can freely switch between at any time. This is not a necessary mechanic to use, but it makes some of the puzzle solving much easier and more fun, it’s a good ass time. Multitasking feels amazing in this game. Underground tunnels were also added that add to the runtime of the game AND add a challenge, as some of these tunnels will test your will. Some of the bosses in these places are INSANE too. I’ll never forget the first time I woke up the mechanical spider and watched it GUN DOWN my entire army of Pikmin with a MACHINE GUN. This game is so cute AND so fucked up, there’s nothing quite like it. The final boss is one of the most intense Pikmin enemies ever made too, and he took out all but my yellow Pikmin in a matter of seconds with his BULLSHIT electricity attack. And the ending… no dialogue, just beautiful visuals and amazing music. This game is more than a game: it’s a true adventure, and of course, it is a masterpiece.
