3/5 ★ – Zimtiki's review of Slap City.

Slap City is a platform brawler with similar mechanics to Smahs Bros, and is also apparently a spin-off of the game Ittle Dew which I have never even heard of. This game has several characters each with their own weak, strong, and special attacks, along with a bunch of fun and creative levels. The story mode has you choosing a character to go through Slap City with. You’ll go through battles with the other characters from the roster. This all leads to a final battle with the corrupt Mayor who, no joke, wants to use a giant fist to punch the world so hard it’ll send it into a “hit-stop” long enough for him to rob a bunch of banks. It’s honestly hilarious. Sadly, the campaign is the same for every character aside from some mild dialogue changes, you can tell the budget simply wasn’t there to make it more unique. The gameplay is a lot more floaty than Smash Bros, which can make navigation a pain. What I do like though is the bounciness of it all. Characters will slam into walls and bounce all over the place uncontrollably, it makes the gameplay unpredictable and chaotic. The game has some identity issues though, it has professional techniques like wave-dashing, yet the gameplay and hazard-filled levels are too unpredictable to make this game practical in a competitive setting. But in a party setting, you’ll certainly get a few laughs out of the absurdity of it all.
