4/5 ★ – __griffon__'s review of Borderlands 3: Guns, Love and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock.
Jumping into this DLC you see massive similarities to the work of HP Lovecraft. Which i really like. Seeing as the Borderlands franchise has multiple planets, species, weapons and what not, I love that each DLC expansion has a different theme. This one is very fascinating based purely off the location. This massive vault monsters corpse towering over the village with all the villagers under a strange curse. The only thing I'm pretty dissatisfied with was the final fight. Why would they tease this massive vault monster, but have the final boss be a heart? This DLC does a great job of handling its characters. Hammerlock and Jakobs are well written characters, and I love the relationship the two of them have. They have doubts, but they love each other enough to overcome the massive odds out against them in this story. Burton Briggs and Mancubas Bloodtooth were incredibly interesting characters, every single piece of dialogue from then was fascinating. As well as the whole Cold Case story line. I'm shocked at how much they built out Briggs and I hope we see him return in future games or DLC. We also see the return of Gaige from Borderlands 2. It's always fun seeing former playable characters in the Borderlands games. They get expanded a lot more and have more personality. Gaige was pretty similar overall to Tina, but still a fun character. Overall, the world, story, and characters were well done. And felt like a necessary stepping stone in the future of these games and characters. The final boss fight was underwhelming, but the enemy design was fun and unique.
