4.5/5 ★ – __griffon__'s review of The Wolf Among Us.

One of my favorite games of all time. Wolf Among Us follows Bigby Wolf as he uncovers the mysterious deaths of residents in Fabletown. Along the way he meets various adaptations of iconic fairy tale characters such as Snow White, Ichabod Crane, The Woodsmen and more. This universe is just super cool to me. Very dark and gritty, and takes characters you know and love in places you wouldn't expect. Bigby and who you make him out to be is one of my favorite parts as well. Does he embrace the reputation he has and kill and mistreat people? Or does he go against it and hold up the law the proper way? My biggest problem has to be the gameplay itself, or the choices that is. Just like with basically every Telltale game it gives you the illusion of choice. Almost 100% of the time you will see the same ending or one extremely similar to the other. Maybe a character is dead, or Bigby is regarded differently by certain Fabletown residents but this ultimately doesn't have an impact on the story. Even in the ending you're left to convince the residents a certain person is guilty and from what I know it doesn't matter what you say because someone comes in and helps you convince them anyway. Overall I love this story, characters, visuals, soundtrack, and voice acting. But the illusion of choice is my biggest problem with this game, just like other Telltale games.
