Earthbound may have some design elements that are dated, it's still an incredibly charming and innovative RPG. It's no question that SNES graphics have aged more gracefully than other consoles and the saturday morning cartoon aesthetic of Earthbound has allowed it to fit right in with modern 16-bit influenced adventures. The gameplay may have a few hiccups, but Earthbound still felt pretty inventive. I really wish you could call your Mom from the receiver Apple Kid gives you, especially at points in the game where its really inconvenient to get back to a telephone. It can also be a little fusterating to have an entire squad of monster descend on you when you only encountered one. Though the sort of dated or annoying aspects in Earthbound don't take away all that much from the moments I loved in the gameplay and story. All in all the journey to defeat Giygas with Ness, Paula, Jeff, and Po is truly an unforgettable one.
