Avoid this. I don't know how it even released. It's so close to broken that I'm amazed it didn't crash constantly.
You get a gun right away, which sucks but at least it's something. Except... you lose it when you travel to 1984, where you then need to rely on punching and kicking to defeat police, who, yes, have their own guns. But don't worry, they're straight shooters. Literally. They'll shoot in a straight line. Just duck and you'll avoid their bullets, pop up after they've fired, smack 'em in the face a few times then duck again.
As for the terminators you face later, they're annoying because you can only get one hit in per duck/stand/punch/duck cycle. Boorriiinnnggg.
Those dogs though, fuck those dogs. I am not convinced you can even fight them without dying. I just jumped them and sprinted away.
The car/bike level can go fuck itself. I don't think it is possible to complete that level without having at least one extra life. The car/car level was an absolute pain in the butt but at least you can cheese it by going slow. The controls barely work, and for some reason smashing into walls and buildings causes no damage but when the Terminator clips your wingmirror with his bike your health bar shrinks considerably? Oh, and you have a gun in the car levels? JOHN. BRING IT WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO ON FOOT, YOU ABSOLUTE NUMPTY.
Speaking of feet(?) the hitbox of your character and the terrain is a mess. I failed more jumps than I made. And yes, I abused save states.
The terrain being all wacky hitbox-wise is only half the terrain-related story though, as it is also trying to kill you. Whether it's slimy drips from above or non-regulation cabling trying to zap you every second (which in some cases you can barely see) you're not gonna have a good time.
And wtf was up with that jail level? Where the hell am I? HELP. SEND HELP. I'M IN PURGATORY. EVERYTHING LOOKS THE SAME. WHAT'S THIS YELLOW THING? WHERE DO I GO? WHY DOES FIRE NOT HURT ME?!
It's just... a mess. Don't bother.
