3/5 ★ – aidlamb's review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
Oblivion was one of the first open world RPGs I played, I was around 8 years old and I could not believe what I was playing, this remaster was able to capture that feeling again. The obvious upgrade in the graphics and lighting was a joy to see, the updated character models were, at times, a bit too uncanny valley for my liking with the old animations mixed with the new faces, and the world was just a wonder to explore. I have not played the new patch, I did my playthrough on release so I experienced a lot of bugs and crashes. The main one being I could not dismiss my companion which practically stopped me from playing the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood the way I wanted, however aside from this I never experienced any game breaking issues. In a time filled with soulless cash grabs, this remaster feels like it was actually done with the best intentions for the fans.
