Sometimes games need a second chance. My first playthrough of this game ended in a spiraling fail-state, and I just quit. As I began to play it a second time, I realized I hadn't been paying enough attention, particularly to all of the details in the turn-based tactical battles and gathering enough resources to build better starships. As I focused on that, the game began to grip me. I enjoyed quickly analyzing the opposing fleet to see what cracks they had in their armor. It was fun leveling up my officers and building higher level starships. Even the dark humor of the alien races was a nice change of mood and pace. Overall, while the game lasted a little longer than it should have and the battles got a little redundant, I rather enjoyed my time with this game. I'm glad I gave it a second chance.
