2/5 ★ – andrew_keck's review of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate.
In all fairness, I went into this game hearing that it was absolutely awful, so that probably brought my enjoyment down a bit. However, this game had me angrily just rushing through everything. The combat feels janky, the boss fights were all meh to me, and the final boss almost had me ragequit for good, as one of the core mechanics in the fight didn't work for me. I may have also just been a bad player, but I really do think I was hitting the right buttons. If this game were on its own, not tied down to origins or the arkham series, maybe it would be better. But I have to compare it to the series of games it belongs to, and it just does not reach anywhere near that level. The only reason I did not give this game a 1 star was that I really liked the comic book panel design for the cutscenes. I enjoy when comic book games do stuff like that, and I think it was about the only thing that worked here. I do not recommend you play this game, as I can't even remember any relevance toward the origin or arkham series.
