5/5 ★ – asoola's review of Persona 5.

I wrote a review for Persona 5 Royal but never for the original which is weird? Let’s change that! It’s been almost six years since I played the original Persona 5 but I recently finished a playthrough in Royal and I achieved the original ending on said playthrough. I still am able to tell what is new and added in Royal and wasn’t in the original game so without further ado let’s get into this review! (I’ll talk about my thoughts when I played the original though, sorry if this is confusing in advance 😅) The story is fantastic and always was to me, it genuinely left a lasting impression on me and while the ending wasn’t sad I found myself emotional watching it. (I still get emotional watching the ending even after all those years.) The gameplay in the original from what I remember was fantastic truly it was, I was so lost when I first played the game because everything was new to me but by the time I replayed it I actually managed to max out all social stats and all of the Confidants (well not all I never managed to finish Haru’s on time in the original game) overall the gameplay was nothing like what I experienced before in gaming so I was obsessed with it! (Still am honestly!) The daily life gameplay and the phantom thief gameplay were so enjoyable! Characters time, every character in this game is intriguing and interesting! I loved all of the Phantom Thieves characters, Akechi, and of course Ren Amamiya the protagonist! The antagonists were also well written some of them or rather all of them (not you Akechi) are so easy to hate just because of how horrible they were but the way they were written as I said was well even though I hate all of them. 😅 I also loved the characters that were introduced in the confidant system! The soundtrack is so well composed! Till this day I still listen to songs like Beneath the Mask, Life Will Change, Last Surprise, Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There, Hoshi To Bokura To, etc. The Soundtrack has the best songs from emotional songs to upbeat and fun songs it’s truly is one of the best soundtracks ever. Well that’s all I think Persona 5 is a masterpiece and I may be exaggerating but it is a cultural reset! I loved every moment I spent in the original game! ❤️
