4.5/5 ★ – asoola's review of Yakuza 4 Remastered.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I genuinely loved this game’s story and characters! (Yes including the rubber bullets thing) I’ll talk about the positives then move on to the negatives! Positives: I loved the story and I really loved the three characters that were introduced in this game and they are Shun Akiyama, Taiga Saejima and Masayoshi Tanimura!! However I found myself enjoying Shun Akiyama & Masayoshi Tanimura parts the most and I loved the story in their parts of the storyline, Akiyama is definitely my new favorite character from the Yakuza series I love him very much and his gameplay is so much fun he probably have the best gameplay in the game I think! Tanimura is one of the best characters actually and I wish they kept his character around. Anyways moving on to the negatives I’ll keep this short but I do not like a certain scene in Saejima’s part like at all I felt it was unnecessary but fortunately it doesn’t last long (I also did not like how Kiryu reacted I understand why he did what he did but I unfortunately felt he was out of character at that particular scene ONLY) I dislike that scene but I don’t think Saejima was a bad character at all my favorite scene of him is the one after he fights in the coliseum it made me sympathize with him lots! That aside I loved the game very much, there’s nothing to say about Kiryu because I think he’s still a well written protagonist (almost) even in this game, as I mentioned I do not like how he acted in the scene I mentioned above but other than that his part was great and I loved his fight with Dojima, Kiryu’s father-son relationship with Daigo Dojima really flourished in this game! (Side note: I finished playing this game in July 2022)
