2/5 ★ – bauer_247's review of Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter.

I’m a very big fan of Sherlock Holmes and was very excited to try this game out, but that excitement was quickly replaced with annoyance. This game had so much potential, the writing as well as the voice acting is ok, and I was intrigued with at least the first mystery, but that was about it. The tone of this game confuses me as I couldn’t decide if it was trying to be a hidden objects point and click game, or an LA Noire style game, questioning people and accusing of lying (with proof). Developers tried to mix things up with forced and uninteresting mini-games that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I was often frustrated as I would figure out the next location I needed to go to, but was unable to until I found and clicked on the unremarkable dirty dishes in the sink. Overall, lots of potential but I was unable to force myself through the first mystery. Thankfully I was able to try this through PS plus and didn’t actually purchase it.
