3/5 ★ – beckakiin's review of Tiny Bookshop.
a cozy indie about opening up a tiny mobile bookshop in a small coastal town, while also meeting the people there for the first time.
the gameplay is simple: you fill your shelves with books that sell well at the different places in town (like facts at the university), you recommend books if people ask and you try to sell as many books as you can.
the other aspect of the game is that you meet new people, make new friends and you help these friends achieve a goal in their life. this was my favorite thing about this game. i liked trying to figure out where to meet certain people and how to help them reach their goal.
i also liked decorating my book mobile and later also my bookshop. i 100% got all items and all colors, all stamps, all books, all memories and all golden moments.
however. i wish there could have been a better achievement guide. i wish the stamps could have said which season to get them in, at least the ones that had to be played in a certain season (the beach at summer). i missed doing the beach achievements the first AND the second year (because i don’t like children and i don’t care for children’s storylines. harper was annoying and i just didn’t like her), but since i finished the ENTIRE game except harper’s story AT AUTUMN year two, i had to play the whole winter and spring all over again to unlock harper’s case. that was tedious.
it would have been nice to be able to skip days, or close the shop early. it would also have been nice to have an item list, at least with the manuscripts and the cassette tapes, just to see if you could find all of them.
i know it’s a small indie, but it has gotten a lot of media light, so hopefully they can update the game where it’s needed. it’s a cute game with a good storyline, just make sure you understand when you need to focus on each stamp, at least if you want to 100% it.
