3/5 ★ – benhmedia's review of Kirby Tilt n' Tumble.

I got this for the GameBoy Color back when I was a little kid and remember really liking it. But years went by, I no longer had a GBC or GBA handheld, and I wasn’t able to revisit it due to the limitations of most emulators…but everything changed when the Nintendo Switch Online attacked. I finally got to play this one again! Is it still fun? KIND OF? It’s a novelty title. The levels are built entirely around rolling Kirby with tilt controls. It’s effective at what it sets out to do, but that’s it. Having no copy abilities certainly brings this one down, as does the abysmal lack of boss variety. And despite the game devs making a clear and admirable effort to keep the level design fresh throughout 32 courses, I just found myself bored towards the end. I feel a similar way about Kirby Star Allies: A perfectly polished and competent game that, for whatever reason, fails to engage me the more it goes on. Still, it’s a unique little title that I at least got some mild enjoyment out of. And in classic Kirby tradition, there are mini games! The ballon pop game and the hurdle race are my favorites of the bunch. If you’ve got NSO, this is at least worth checking out and playing through the first several courses.
