4.5/5 ★ – benhmedia's review of Mole Mania.

Just 100%d this game after about 13 hours on my save file and it may be my favorite puzzle game of all time. Switching between pushing and pulling objects on land to digging paths underground is always a joy and the puzzles get challenging without feeling obtuse. I must admit I’m quite proud of myself for solving every single puzzle in this game without once resorting to online help. The game isn’t perfect. The bosses are very hit-or-miss, with some of them being way more tedious than fun - the same goes for the bonus rounds. The music also gets pretty repetitive, though it’s not as bad as similar games like Adventures of Lolo. With that being said, the core experience here is in the puzzle solving, which is always incredibly fun. Not only in solving the puzzles, but in the movement too. Throwing barrels, steel balls, and heads of cabbage over your head never gets old. If Nintendo made a new installment for this game on the Switch with an updated soundtrack and some QoL improvements, it could very well be the perfect puzzle game.
